Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the area, generating strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At the height on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 power users in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
